Overview

You have mastered the theory of the micronutritional management of overweight and obesity, but one question remains once the patient is sitting in front of you: concretely, where do I start and how do I bring all this information together? This practical part opens the doors of a real consultation, step by step, to turn your knowledge into personalised protocols applicable from the very next day.

What you will learn

  • Build a relevant and prioritised functional biology assessment (from screening for metabolic syndrome to the calculation of HOMA and QUICKI, including micronutrient deficiencies, the thyroid, the digestive, mitochondrial and neurotransmitter profile and salivary cortisol)
  • Set up supplementation in two stages: a baseline supplementation based on the clinical picture, then a personalised supplementation reading the biological results
  • Explain simply to your patient the central role of insulin, lipogenesis and lipolysis, and de-demonise lipids using educational metaphors
  • Offer and adjust the two main dietary levers: carbohydrate modulation (low carb, glycaemic loads, net carbs, ketogenic diet) and dietary restriction windows (intermittent fasting)
  • Support the keto-adaptation phase and anticipate the keto flu with concrete strategies (citrates and bicarbonates, salt, bone broth, medium-chain triglycerides)
  • Deconstruct patients' frequent beliefs about fasting and adopt a coaching stance to encourage long-term adherence

On the programme

  • The use of functional biology: prescribing individual markers or an investigation panel, screening for metabolic syndrome, assessing insulin resistance and looking for the associated metabolic blocks (thyroid, gut, adrenals, mitochondria, neurotransmitters)
  • The commented reading of a fatty acid profile and the interpretation of the main digestive markers (LBP and metabolic endotoxaemia, candidiasis, microbiota)
  • The supplementation strategy, from baseline supplementation to adjustment according to the degree of insulin resistance (chromium, magnesium, berberine, antioxidants, support of hepatic detoxification, and more)
  • The dietary models explained to the patient: low carb and glycaemic loads, ketogenic diet and nutritional ketosis, food pyramid, distinction between healthy keto and dirty keto
  • Intermittent fasting and its different forms, from the restriction window to the one-meal-a-day, with the deconstruction of misconceptions
  • The practical consultation tools: weekly planners, recipes, shopping lists, protein portion calculation, and the organisation of follow-up (assessment consultation, interpretation, intermediate psychonutrition sessions)

Who it is for

This training is for healthcare professionals, doctors, pharmacists, naturopaths and micronutrition therapists, who see patients with overweight or obesity and wish to move from theory to a structured consultation practice.

At the end of the training

You will be able to conduct a complete consultation, prescribe and interpret a targeted functional biology assessment, then build a supplementation and a dietary model adjusted to each patient's profile and degree of insulin resistance. You will know how to support the implementation of the model, anticipate difficulties and adapt your approach to the person's beliefs and lifestyle. You will thus have a reproducible consultation framework, while bringing your own personal touch to it.
